Anima [Mar. 25th, 2008|08:17 am]
[mood | apathetic]

I am still in a state of emotional torpor.

Meanwhile, I am making adjustments to an article I wrote last year but was rejected, to try to submit it to a journal of "impact", some kind of confuse index that ranks the most important journals and indicates which ones we should seek first to publish our works. Curiously, the Museum gave us a list of the highest impact Botany journals available, which includes the South African Journal of Botany, the Pakistan Journal of Botany, and even the Bangladesh Journal of Botany, which hasn“t published a number since 2004. The list, that also includes a neozealandish, two chinese, and two polish journals, features not a single bazilian journal. Although I think that science should be thought and made for all people, I think that scientists of each nationality should have the right to choose to publish their works primarily in their own language in their own country, and then spread it to the world. Meanwhile, low quality - and rather blatantly false - researches are reaching common people through the big media with no obstacles, filling up the public opinion with absurds which they call "science".

In other news, I subscribed to a animation course held by Anima Mundi that starts in two weeks. It is the first time in my life that I subject myself to theory on something I consider myself somewhat skilled already. This exercise of humbleness does not stop there: although I have some experience in animation (stop motion, and animation softwares like the ancient mid 90's Animator Pro, Image ready, and some demos), I opted by the basic course instead of the advanced course, because I believe I need the basic theory about animation before I can go further at it.

The day I made my subscription, I met a friend from college who is also a professional dubbing actor. Quite auspicious.
