The Pink Screen of Despair

In the last two years, every time I turned my PC on I got a message about my Master HD: "Status: BAD. Backup and replace". But since it was working anyway, I never gave a shit about it.

Well, last week I rebooted the machine, don't remember why, and when it was loading, it started a chkdsk without asking me. When it was finished, it rebooted, and started another chkdsk. It did it again like 3 of 4 times, and never started Windows. So I turned it off and on again, and hey, got a bsod. Well, bsod happens all the time so I wasn't that scared. I have a very old HD with Win98 installed and tried to connect it as the Master and my former Master as Slave, so I could access it (if it was still working) and repair it somehow. Then I turned it on and...

THE SCREEN WAS FUCKING PINK! THE BIOS SCREEN WAS FUCKING ORANGE!

That was it. If you get scared at the Blue Screen of Death, it's because you never got a Pink Screen of Despair (PSOD). Although I did it before a few times, I couldn't manage to use the computer with these two HDs on together. So I was definetly fucked. Bought a new HD, got a XP copy, but after a few trials, I found out the instalation disk was damaged. Another XP copy magically popped out from nowhere in one of my CD cases, so, after 6 days, here I am.

I shall never forget the PSOD.

Last week I broke up my relationship. Although we were happy together and etc, I realized that I am (and she is, as well) in a stage of my life where I can not support a serious relationship. I am broke, my professional life is stalled, and everything I want to do depends on someone else. I am 30 years old (and she is 33), and there wasn´t much room to allow this relationship to grow. My sister ended a 4 years long relationship recently, but she spent at least 2 years with her ex only because she thought they were together for too long to just end it, and saw herself trapped in a boring relationship that kept her from fully enjoying her own personal life, and I didn´t want to repeat this.

So we talked and made everything clear. We are in good therms. I was at her parents' house, in São Paulo, and I was scheduled to come back home only yesterday, so we enjoyed the week together. São Paulo is a great place if you are interested in cultural tours, with lots of free and good stuff to see (and if you have money, great places to eat). It is a city almost as international and echletic as New York.

What pisses me off is that I know that I broke up with her because of my current financial situation, which is a consequence of the wrong choices I have made in the past years - which already pisses me off by default. And you know what? "Money doesn´t being happiness" is a lie the rich have made to keep the poor under control. I am poor and I am not laughing.
